Knockingall Community Centre in Piercestown welcomed a crowd of over 100 people to a fundraising tea party that raised €3,500,

The board of management of the centre organised the 1970s night tea party after a number of groups, who rented space in the centre, moved to larger premises resulting in a fall in the centre's income. The event was held to offset that loss as well as other changes in income arrangements.

Groups and individuals hosted tables and invited guests. There was plenty of local representation from the GAA club, the Girl Guides and Scouts, the Piercestown/Murrintown ARA club, Piercestown Parents' Association and many more. St Martins GAA and the Parish Council Committee also supported the event with donations while DJ Ronnie Bent provided the music.

The centre is available for business meetings, exercise/dance classes, children's party afternoons, and event nights. Scout and Guide activities are also held in the hall. For more information on booking the hall or on Guides/Scouts, call 087 619 1349 or 087 644 1013.
