The inaugural Tech Week event run by Wexford's Third Level Campus of IT Carlow was held recently with an enthusiastic group of secondary students from Presentation School.

The event was a 'Raspberry Pi Workshop' as part of TechWeek 2018, a national initiative run by the Irish Computer Society to promote Computing and STEM in primary and secondary level students.

Speaking after the event, Michael Gleeson, Programme Director of the Higher Certificate In Computing at the Wexford Campus said the morning has been a great success.

'The workshop was focused on the Internet of Things and involved an introduction to computing subjects including Operating Systems, Python Programming, Computer Hardware and Graphical User Interfaces. This was all completed on a Raspberry Pi.

'We had 18 students and two teacher participate. The students were very engaged and had great fun.'

At the end of the course the 18 students were all presented with a Certificate of Completion by the Higher Certificate in Computing for all their efforts.
