The Annual Galbally Tractor and Vintage Run will take place on Sunday 26th May, commencing with registration at 11.30 am in Galbally and the run commences at 1 pm. Refreshments will be served in the Community Centre. All proceeds in aid of the Galbally Restoration Fund. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Kinesiologist Lecture

Bree ICA are holding an open meeting in the Community Centre this Tuesday May 14 at 7.30pm. The speaker is Mr C Leonard, a Kinesiologist. Kinesiology uses muscle testing to help identify why you feel the way you do, tired, stressed, back pain and balances the body by fixing problems.

Bree NS Enrolments

Clothing Collection

Bree Parents Association are delighted to hold their second New and Used Clothing Collection on Tuesday May 28. The drop off point is in the Bree Community Hall on: Monday evening May 27 from 7- 10pm (in conjunction with a Coffee Evening), Tuesday morning, May 28, from 8.30 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Men's Shed Presentation

Bree Men's Shed group recently presented a bespoke prie dieu to match the remaining original one in the church.

Ladies Football Club

The Junior Ladies had a home game against Clonard on Tuesday of last week but unfortunately lost out on a score of 3-6 to 0-12. Training continues for all ages and all players are encouraged to attend. Everyone is encouraged to continue to support the Club Lotto and tickets available by contacting 087/6786886

GAA Lotto

The winning numbers were 13,22,23,31. There was no Jackpot winner. Match 3 winners were Niamh Asple, Melissa Dawson, Nicola Carr and Joey Doyle. The next draw will take place in Byrne's of Bree on May 22.

Bree Youth Club News

The end of year party will take place on Friday 17th May from 6.30- 8pm for juniors and 8-9.30pm for seniors. There will be a €2 admission charge on the night. The Juniors Got Talent Show was held on Friday 26th April in Marshalstown and there was a fantastic array of talent from all the participants. Bree had 10 acts taking part.

In Solo Singing, Sarah Byrne and Sarah Phelan gave beautiful performances; in Group Singing Daisy Doolan, Orla McCauley, Ciara Ashton and Katie Redmond gave their rendition of Somebody I Used to Know by Gotye; Katie and Ciara also performed Ho Hey by the Lumineers as the audience sang along; John Kehoe, Sarah Phelan, Olivia Howe, Roisin Treacy and Katie Mai McCabe performed with gusto the very old world war 1 song- The Quartermasters Stores; Ciara Parnell, Emily Jordan, Aoibhe Lewis, Amy Fitzpatrick and Roise Eilis Kehoe aka Mini Mix sang Butterfly by Little Mix.

In Drama Katie Mai McCabe and Roisin Treacy performed an extract from Alice in Wonderland and in Dance Laura Byrne and Suzie Byrne gave a very a very energetic routine to Whip It by Nicki Minaj; Gilly Phelan's light feet danced a traditional Irish Dance and Olivia Howe wrapped up the show with a Michael Jackson impersonation to Smooth Criminal complete with moonwalk.

CDG Meeting

There will be a Community Development Group meeting on Monday evening 20th May at 8.30 pm in Bree Hall. All are welcome.

Sympathy

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife, daughters, relations and friends of Feily Sullivan, Ballyhogue who died recently. His remains were intered in Bree Cemetery.

CROSSABEG

Coffee morning

A Coffee morning will take place in Kyle Forge on Saturday next, May 18 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. All proceeds go to the fund for the annual Christmas party for the senior citizens of the parish. Your generous support would be appreciated. The Forge is a lovely place to have a cup of tea/coffee and sit and chat with friends. There will also be a raffle with produce and some bric-a-brac etc.

55+club

The annual Bealtaine festival will take place at Kyle Forge on Tuesday, May 21 from 2-4 p.m. All are most welcome to join in the festivities of good music, song and fun. Members will be heading down to the Ferrycarrig hotel on Sunday, May 26 for the annual Dawn chorus at 7.15 a.m. A day trip is also on the cards and being planned.

Athletics

Part one of the county athletic championships were held in New Ross on Sunday, May 5. St. Killians AC had a number of their young athletes in action, with most of them competing for the very first time. Most of them qualified from their respective heats into the semis and even into the finals to finish just outside of the medal placings. Well done to all.

Nicole Gillen finished in 5th place in the 100m under 10 and 4th in the Long Jump; Conor Curtin finished in 4th place in the heat of the 100M under 11; Cathal Gormley and Ciaran Ryan reached the semi-finals of the 100m under 11; Conor Bernard finished in 4th place in the final of the 100M under 11; Jack Forde took silver in the final of the 100M under 11, Benjamin Curtin and Richard Hawkins both gave of their very best in the 100m under 12 and 13 respectively with Richard also competing well in the 600M;

Mikey Hynes competed well in the Turbo Javelin event under 11; Sally Shortle took a bronze medal in the 100M under 14, a gold medal in the High Jump and a silver medal in the Long Jump; Rebecca Jones finished in 4th place in the Shot Putt under 15 and Victoria Hawkins also competed well in the Shot Putt under 15 final. The under 11 Relay team of Jack Forde, Conor Bernard, Cathal Gormley, Ciaran Ryan and sub Conor Curtin took silver in their final.

GAA notes

The Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last week's lotto Jackpot and 5 match 3 winners; Ann Thomas, Paul Barron, Robbie Walsh, Caroline Whelan and Christine Fortune. The numbers drawn were 9, 13, 25, and 30. This week's jackpot is €12,000.

The Intermediate hurlers play Fethard in the championship this weekend. The intermediate hurlers beat Clongeen in the League last week, while the junior B hurlers beat Kilmore in the League. The Junior B footballers lost to Sarsfields in the district championship. The U16 hurlers lost to The Shels last week.

Well done to Padraig Foley, Bill Eviston and Sam Kelly who were part of the county minor hurling panel which defeated Kilkenny in the championship recently.

Soccer news

The annual charity soccer match and family fun day out took place on Sunday of last week in the local pitch and was a great success. The club are grateful for the huge attendance of members, parents and children. All proceeds were donated to the Wexford Autism Network. Grateful thanks also to all who helped out with preparing the pitches and organising the barbeque. Special thanks to the Roche family, the sponsors A and A Quinn Roofing and Belgrove Bouncy Castles.

Dinner Dance

This year the Crossabeg Soccer club celebrate their 40th season in the Wexford League and to mark the "ruby" anniversary, a dinner dance will take place in the Ferrycarrig Hotel on bank holiday Sunday, June 2. Tickets for "the Gathering" are €25 and this includes a three course dinner and much more. Contact Colm on 089-4415465 or any committee member.

Whist resumes

Whist sessions will resume in Crossabeg community centre on Wednesday, May 23 at 8.15 p.m. and continue for the summer months. Your support would be appreciated.

soccer club agm

Crossabeg Soccer club will hold their annual general meeting in Kyle Forge, Crossabeg on Friday, June 7 at 7.30 p.m. All proposals / motions to be lodged with the club secretary John Carr ahead of the meeting and no later than June 1.

Summer Camp

A summer camp for boys and girls will take place at Crossbeg Soccer pitch from July 8 to July 12 inclusive. The cost of the course is €50 and represents great value for money when you consider it includes a soccer kit. The course is being run by FAI trained coaches. First Communion

23 young children from Ms. Michelle Connellys class in Crossabeg NS received their First Holy Communion at a special ceremony in Crossabeg church on Saturday morning last. Congratulations to all the children and blessings on them for the future.

Clean up month

A big thank you to all who came out and helped pick up rubbish around the roads of Crossabeg in the past month. This annual event is by now a way of life it would appear, as more and more rubbish is being dumped round the lovely countryside. So thanks to all who care enough about their village and surrounding areas to keep it clean and tidy.

Wedding Bells

Congratulations to John, son of Sean and Margaret Redmond, Sion, Crossabeg, on the occasion of his wedding to Wanda, daughter of Mervyn and Velda Bayley which took place on Friday last in Graiguecullen with the reception for family and friends at the Lord Bagenal in Leighlinbridge.

Tracies Walk

The annual walk from Castlebridge to the Talbot hotel in Wexford takes place on bank holiday Sunday, June 2. Proceeds are in aid of the TLT4CF.
