Forever Fit

Ceili/Set Dancing

Tomhaggard community development group intends to hold another Irish night /Ceili in the not to distant future. To perpare for same they are giving Ceili and set dancing classes suitable for beginners (and improvers) in the social centre on Friday nights starting at 8pm. All are welcome. TRACTOR RUN

Tomhaggard are having their Annual Tractor Run on Sunday May 19th in aid of Tomhaggard Social Centre. Registration at 12.30pm to start at 1pm. Working tractors and vintage tractors and cars all welcome. Fun day guaranteed. Contact is Eleanor at 053 9135117.

Golf

We are asking all golfers to keep Friday July 5th in your diary when the Mayglass church restoration fund committee and St Fintans GAA club will run a joint fundraising golf scramble in Rosslare. This replaces St Fintans annual fundraising day so why not get a team together to support the event and have a fun day out. If you are unable to attend but would like to support the fundraiser you may do so by sponsoring a tee box,a green or one of the many nearest the pin prizes.

Model County Draw

Congratulations to St Fintans supporters Willie Pettit and Stephen Rossitter on their wins in the first of three draws in the 21st model county draw. Tickets for the remaining two draws are still available from St Fintans club members at €20 for the May draw which will be held on the 29th and the June draw on the 26th at €10.

We once again thank those that continue to support the club your support and loyality is deeply appreciated and never taken for granted. Best of luck in the remaining draws.

Drama

The Ballycogley players will hold a drama work shop in Tomhaggard social centre on Sunday May 26th and the workshop will run from 10am-3pm. This gives us all the oppertunity to get an insight into drama and therefore we invite all young adults both male and female from 15yrs old upwards to come along.

Satori Stream

Society Golf

The St Fintans golfing society will hold its first evening outing on the Burrow golf course Rosslare on Friday May 17th with a first tee off time of 5pm. The format is a three man team event and those intending to play are requested to contact Eric Byrne 086 3022993 or Paud O Brien 086 1537640 on or before Wednesday evening to facilitate with the selection of teams.

Carboot Sale

Dates for the upcoming carboot sales in Mayglass church carpark are May 25th,June 29th,July 27th,Aug 31st and Sept 21st from 8am-1pm. Admission is E2 with children free,cars E10 ,vans E15 and large vans E20. Gates open at 7.30am for traders with prceeds in aid of Mayglass church restoration fund. Scouts

Kilmore Scouts are holding a Cake Sale and Tea/Coffee on the Lawn in Kilmore Church grounds on weekend of 18/19 May to raise funds. It was a great success last year with many people engaging in a social chat after Mass when enjoying a cuppa. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we look forward to your continued support.

All Blacks afc

All blacks AFC men and womens soccer club reunion for past, present and future players will be held in Danby Lodge on Saturday the 8th of June at 8pm sharp. A presentation of medals and trophies will be made on the night. Tickets are €25 each and this includes a 3 course meal and live music. Killinick To Sydney

Family and friends from Killinick send heart felt congratulations to Harry & Ruby Finn Sydney Austrailia. Harry celebrated his second birthday and Ruby was christened in the recent past. You are both missed by your family and friends and we all hope you have enjoyed your special days. We look forward to seeing you in the near future.

Bereavement

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Mary (Maura) Roche Mulrankin who sadly died during the past week. May she rest in peace.

End Of Season

The Ballycogley Players brought the curtain down on yet another very enjoyable season of drama with a night out bowling followed by some finger food and refreshments. The night began in the Leisure Max entertainment centre in Drinagh for some bowling during which a number of different styles and methods of bowling were on show.

The group then travelled to Mary Barrys Kilmore for some food and drinks to toast the end of yet another season of fun and craic and Brian O Brien made sure we all got home safely.

Gymnastics

Congratulations to Caoimhe Mc Guire,Aoife Power and Egle Baikaite who finished third in grade 2 womens groups in the National Acrobatics finals which were held in Salthill Galway over last weekend. Well done girls

Our Lady in Garabandal

A special DVD presentation - not to be missed - on the messages of "Our Lady in Garabandal" in Northern Spain, will take place on Friday 17th May in Barntown Community Centre at 8 pm. Crossabeg AFC

Charity Match & Family Fun Day: Our Annual Charity Soccer Match & Family Fun day took place last Sunday and was a huge success. We are grateful for the huge attendance of members, parents and children. All proceeds were donated to the Wexford Autism Network. We would also like to thank all that helped out with preparing the pitches & organising the BBQ. Special thanks to the Roche family, our sponsor A & A Quinn Roofing & Belgrove Bouncy Castles.

Dinner Dance: This year we celebrate our 40th season in the Wexford League and to mark our "ruby" anniversary, a dinner dance will take place in the Ferrycarrig Hotel on the Bank Holiday Sunday the 2nd June next.

AGM: The Club AGM takes place takes place at the Kyle Forge Crossabeg on Friday the 7th June next at 7.30 pm sharp. In accordance with the Club Rules, we would be obliged if all Proposals/Motions be lodged with the Club Secretary John Carr ahead of the Meeting & no later than the 1st June next.

Camogie

Our Senior camogie team had a well deserved win over Blackwater in the League on Bank Holiday Monday despite being short some vital players through injury. The entire panel clicked on the day with great performances all around.

National League: Congratulations to our Senior player Susie McGovern who came on full forward for Wexford in the Senior National Camogie League Final last Sunday and proved herself to be a real threat around the square, winning a much needed penalty for the team.

U.16: Well done also to Tara, Laura and Chloe who, following their valuable contribution to the U.16 County Camogie league campaign for Wexford have been included in the shortlisted panel for the upcoming Championship.

Junior: Our club Junior team were unlucky to go down by a goal on Tuesday night in Killurin again against Blackwater - the girls turned out in great numbers and fought hard and look set to do well in the competition.

U-12s: Our U-12s were due to play their next blitz on Saturday but this has been rescheduled for Monday 20th in Hollymount at 6.30pm. Good luck to all.

Leinster Final: We wish club girls Clodagh,Jessie and Róisín well in their U-14 School Leinster camogie final v F.C.J. Bunclody on Friday coming.

Gymstars Gymnastics

All roads lead to Enniscorthy this Sunday, when a large group from the Gymstars Gymnastics Club head off to participate in an Acrobatics Competition in the Astro Active Centre. The Introductory level takes place at 10am in the morning (some of our youngsters will be in their very 1st competition) and the Competitive level kicks off at 1 pm in the afternoon. The children have been busy learning their routines over the past few weeks and we wish them the very best of luck on Sunday.

Barntown N.S.

This year the school strives to obtain its 4th Green Flag and the theme is Travel. As part of their work, the Green School Committee have decided to focus on promoting walking either part or all of the way to school. This week is National Walk to School week (13th - 17th May) and during this week we are promoting 'Park 'n' Stride' which basically encourages everyone to park a little bit further from the school and walk the final part of the journey. Yesterday morning (Monday) showed a tremendous start to the initative. Keep up the good work kids! Save fuel and walk to school!

LIFE SAVING

There was a good turn out for the Water Safety County finals. Retaining the County title in the girls under 14 category was Georgina Steel, her brother Cameron also held onto his boys under 17 title. Competing in the 17 and over men's category for the first time and winning that trophy was Darragh Allen. Lar O'Connor was presented with a certificate and badge to commemorate 30 years of Irish Water safety volunteering, the presentation was made by Tom Doyle representing both Wexford and Irish Water Safety. Well done.

GLYNN YOUTH CLUB

This week we have a treat for the girls, with a specialist in nail art coming in, to do everyone's nails. Youth club finishes on Friday 31st May with a take away night.

We are collecting names for the Summer trip and must have names and money in from everyone wanting to go before we break for the Summer. The trip will be an all day trip on Thursday 20th June to Extreme Sports in County Meath and will include raft building, assault courses and zip wires to mention but a few, there is something there for everyone. The youth club will subsidize the trip, so depending on your attendance record, you will pay between €10 and €25 for the trip.

Contact Colette on 086 352 7292 to see how much your child will pay. As it's heavily subsidized, we don't want parents to put their child's name down unless they are sure of going.

SWIMMING

Congratulations to Eoghan Mahon, the areas sole representative at the Leinster Division 2 championships in Dublin at the Weekend. Eoghan had an amazing day getting into 3 finals and taking a complete set of medals Gold, Silver and Bronze, he got really good PBs and only narrowly missed out on his Leinster division 1 times, however he has one final chance to achieve the required standard, at the New Ross gala later this month. Well done Eoghan.

The Leo Carthy Weekend

A celebration of traditional Irish music and song is planned for 1st and 2nd June in Our Lady's Island in memory of the late Leo Carthy.

Saturday 1st June - 2p.m. opening with Tony Kehoe and "Theresa & the Stars followed by Des Browne (open air stage): 7p.m. Celebration Mass in Church of the Assumption: 8.30p.m. Variety Concert (O.L.I. Community Hall). featuring Guest Artists George Lawlor, Danescastle Music group, Helen Kirwan & Paul O'Reilly with many more local artists and comedy Sean Carthy, Ballycogley Players.

Sunday 2nd June - 2p.m. Parade from Butlers to O.L.I. village followed by crowning of King of the Mummers ceremony and dancing exhibition.

3.30p.m. unveiling of Memorial Seat. 5 - 9p.m. Live open air music featuring a variety of local Artists & musicians. 9-10.30p.m. Closing with John & Pip Murphy and Special Guests. Junior Hurlers

Our Junior hurlers were unlucky to lose to Gusserane in the first round of the Championship on Sunday. They are out again on Sunday next playing Ferns in Taghmon at .We wish them the best of luck. Come along and support the lads.

Cake Sale Thanks

Lady's Island G.A.A. Club would like to thank all those who baked for the recent Cake Sale in aid of Club funds, and in particular the helpers on the day, Rosaleen Keegan, Tina Maloney, Liz Devereux and David Maloney.
