€100,000 worth of cannabis seized by gardai in Wexford
MORE than 100 cannabis plants with a street value of €100,000 were seized in a major garda operation in the Mayglass area on Tuesday night.
Gardai said they had uncovered 'a very sophisticated growhouse' when they searched a house in the area on a warrant issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
'Over 100 plants were seized for evidential purposes,' said a garda spokesman.
He said a man, who had been living in the area for some time, was arrested later in the evening and was released after being questioned for some hours. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
The seizure was part of Operation Thor anti-crime initiative which Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald says it aimed at identifying, targeting and disrupting criminals and bringing them to justice.
