1,323 dogs abandoned in Wexford
WEXFORD had the highest amont of abandoned dogs of any county in 2010.
That's according to statistics quoted by the organiseres of this year's Pedigree Adoption Drive which runs until May 31 and helps Irish dogs through a donation for every pack of Pedigree dog food purchased.
1,323 dogs were abandoned in County Wexford in 2010 with 65% of these dogs finding new homes.
This is a drop on the previous year's figure when 70% of abandoned dogs were re-homed.
Nationally, on average, 44 dogs are abandoned in Ireland each day, whilst a further 10 dogs are put to sleep every day.
