€2.5m worth of cocaine found in horsebox at Rosslare Harbour
Revenue officers in Rosslare Harbour seized over €2.5 million worth of cocaine which was concealed in a horsebox transporting eight horses from France.
The operation which resulted in the seizure of 35kg of cocaine, was carried out last Thursday with the assistance of the Revenue's detector dog Timba.
The illegal drugs were found as a result of routine profiling after officers stopped and searched an Irish registered horsebox, containing eight horses, which disembarked off a ferry from Cherbourg in France.
An Irish man in his 40's was arrested by gardai at the scene and was detained at Wexford Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Investigations into the incident were continuing at the time of going to press.
The routine operation was part of Revenue's ongoing work in targeting the importation of illegal drugs.
