€24m made available to progress bypass projects

WEXFORD County Council have €24m allocated to them to progress the Clough to Oylgate and New Ross bypass projects.

County Manager, Eddie Breen informed a recent meeting of Wexford County Council that 'notices to treat' have been served and the Council valuers are currently in negotiation with individual landowners.

A number of properties have already been acquired.

'A further number have been referred to the assessment process and negotiations are continuing with the remainder of the landowners,' he said.

It is thought that all necessary lands will be acquired by 2012.

Mr. Breen said that these were major projects which would have ' long lead in times' and he said that the Council should 'press on' with Compulsory Purchase Orders.

He also informed the members that the Moneytucker to New Ross project has now been deferred pending clarification on the funding for this road.
