€43,000 seized from man at ferry
In excess of €43,000 was seized at Rosslare Europort on Tuesday, January 6 as a man attempted to board a ferry to France.
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service seized €42,700 and £900 pounds sterling from an Irish national at the busy port last Tuesday as a result of routine profiling.
The man in his 60s was about to board a ferry to France when he was stopped and questioned by officers and the seizure was made in accordance with the proceeds of crime legislation.
On Wednesday morning, January 7, Judge Gerard Haughton granted revenue officers a three month detention order at Gorey District Court to allow them carry out further investigations.
