853 new builds

A TOTAL of 853 new residential and commercial buildings were counted in County Wexford in 2010, an increase of 0.5% on 2009, according to a survey by GeoDirectory, a subsidiary of An Post which works with Ordnance Survey Ireland to manage a database of residential and commercial buildings.

The figures were recorded by An Post delivery staff working nationwide with experts from Ordnance Survey Ireland.

They identified 853 new buildings in County Wexford in 2010, compared to 849 in 2009. Of these 771 were residential, 58 commercial and 24 dual purpose with both residential and commercial space.

These new additions bring the total number of buildings in County Wexford to 68,405.

The small increase in new buildings in Wexford is in contrast to the 23% drop recorded nationally.
