€91,000 seized from man at Rosslare
CUSTOMS officers in Rosslare have been given three months by Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla to carry out investigations into the reason a Swedish man had €91,000 on him as he tried to board a ferry the weekend before last.
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service seized the sum of cash when they questioned the Swedish man at Rosslare Europort. The man, in his forties, was stopped as he was about to board a ferry to France.
The seizure, under Section 38 of the Criminal Justice Act, was as a result of routine risk profiling. Officers were granted a three-month detention order for the cash by Judge Ó Buachalla at Wexford District Court, to carry out further investigations.
This is the third cash seizure made at Rosslare this year, with the total amount now at €128,100.
