The family of Air Corps cadet David Jevens, who died tragically four years ago, are embarking on another adventurous fundraising effort in his name.

David's sister Sarah and younger brother Christopher are looking for volunteers to join them on a parachute jump in honour of the Barntown cadet who lost his life on a flight training mission in 2009.

David was killed along with his instructor Derek Furniss when their plane crashed in Connemara, County Galway.

Last year, Sarah and Chrisopher entered unchartered territory by setting up a fundraising memorial to David.

Their chosen charity is CAMP (Cheshire Adventure Motivation Project), which David himself had volunteered with during his cadetship in the Air Corps.

CAMP runs motivational activity camps for people with disabilities, offering them a chance to take part in life-changing experiences such as rock climbing , water sports and other physical activities not usually available to wheelchair users.

A brave group of 30 people including Sarah and Christopher took part in last year's parachute jump.

'It was a truly amazing experience which we plan on repeating this August,' said Sarah.

She and her brother are currently recruiting for the 2013 jump.

Over 25 people have already signed up but there are 15 more places available.

'It is a really fitting tribute to our brother whose love of flying began at an early age,' said Sarah.

'For those few minutes we are flying through the air we get to feel what he did and what he loved so much....the skies,' she said.

Following the success of last year's fundraiser, CAMP are coming to Wexford to hold a camp for people with disabilities in Carne next September.

'We are delighted to see it coming to Wexford and we are hoping the sunny south east lives up to its name for our visitors,' said Sarah.

The 2012 parachute jump raised over €12,500 thanks to the generosity and support of Wexford people.

Anyone interested in joining this year's jump from 10,000 feet at the Irish Parachute Club in County Offaly on Friday, August 16, should contact Sarah on 086 7735453 or Christopher on 087 9663516.
