A portrait of the playwright at 70
Wexford Arts Centre had a special surprise for the playwright Billy Roche to mark his 70th birthday and the centre's 45th anniversary.
Executive Director Elizabeth Whyte has commissioned the artist, tutor and gallery owner Tony Robinson to paint a portrait of the writer whose Wexford trilogy was first produced at the Arts Centre in the 1980's.
Billy will sit for Tony a number of times during the year and the completed work will be put on public display in the Arts Centre.
'We need to start building a legacy of the people who have been associated with the Arts Centre down through the years', said Elizabeth.
