Abrakebabra, it's gone!

THE RECESSION has claimed another well-known Wexford business with the closure last week of Abrakebabra restaurant in Selskar Street.

The popular fast food restaurant closed its doors after 20 years in business.

The owners Conor and Joan Dunleavy of Curracloe confirmed that the decision to close was taken due to a fall-off in trade during the past year.

The couple have been involved in the restaurant business in Wexford for 30, previously running the Yankee Doodle takeaway, the Chuck Wagon and the Mirkwood.

They opened the Abrakebabra restaurant 20 years ago.

The restaurant, part of a nationwide chain, was especially popular with pub and club goers and was affected partly by the recent fall-off in the number of customers frequenting late-night premises.

Mr. Dunleavy said he and his wife wished to thank three generations of customers for their loyalty down through the years.

He also thanked his employees, past and present for their support.
