Two students were honoured with school awards when Blackwater NS celebrated their end of year Mass and held their awards ceremony before the pupils went their separate ways for the summer holidays.

School principal Kathleen O'Brien explained that the awards ceremony was an annual event, held to present the Tomas O'Shea Cup for Irish, and the Robbie Sinnott Award for Arts and English.

This year, the Robbie Sinnott Award was won by Emma Kelly, while the Tomas O'Shea Cup was won by Jack Ringwood. The sixth class group were also congratulated and wished the best in their future endevours as they all head for secondary school in September.

Ms O'Brien wished all of the 195 pupils a fun and happy summer. Refreshments were served in the school hall after the event for sixth class pupils and their families.
