Anaesthetist never worked in hospital
A CONSULTANT anaesthetist who is under investigation by the HSE, never worked in Wexford General Hospital contrary to claims made on radio last week.
The investigation into the conduct of the locum anaesthetist follows allegations made by callers to RTE Radio One's 'Liveline' programme on which it was suggested that the doctor carried out work in Wexford General Hospital. However, the HSE has subsequently pointed out that the consultant never worked at Wexford General Hospital in any capacity. The doctor worked as a locum anaesthetist in Ennis General Hospital and has been suspended by his employer Global Medic pending the outcome of the investigation.
According to a statement, the HSE said it is concerned that its hospital sites, address and name may have been used inappropriately in the course of a private business operation.
