Gardaí have confirmed that arrests have been made in relation to a spate of burglaries that took place around Wexford town on Thursday night and the early hours of Friday morning.

Three smash and grabs took place over a short period at Claire's on the Main Street, 44 High Street and The Red Kettle on Mallin Street. In the majority of cases, the thieves didn't manage to get a whole lot, while at The Red Kettle, they were said to have made off with a small amount of cash.

At Claire's, the culprits were disturbed by gardaí and a foot-chase ensued around town. A total of three people were arrested and gardaí are operating on the assumption that the offences may be linked.

The management of The Red Kettle took to social media to thank everyone for their support.

'Thanks everyone for your words of support today,' they said. 'It is not great to start your day like this but we have great neighbours in Mallin Street and great friends and customers who have helped to softened the blow.'
