Arsonists strike twice in Wexford town

By David Tucker

ARSONISTS struck twice in adjacent areas of Wexford town early on Thursday morning. In the first incident, the fire brigade was called out to deal with a blazing wheelie bin outside the Argos shop on Quay West at 1.15 a.m. In the second, just across Wexford Bridge, the brigade was called out at 2.40 a.m. the same morning after pallets and containers were set ablaze at Ferrybank. Arson is suspected in both cases. At 4.12 a.m. on Friday, one unit of the fire brigade attended a call of rubbish burning in the back garden of a derelict house in Ferndale and at 6 p.m. the same day one unit attended a fire on waste ground opposite Clonard Housing Estate.
