Assault woman to make donation

A WEXFORD town woman who pleaded guilty to assault had her case adjourned to allow for the payment of €250 to the local St Vincent de Paul Society.

Leanne Clarke, of 6 Cromwellsfort Heights, pleaded guilty before Judge Patrick Clyne at Wexford District Court to assault at Mooney's Bar, The Quay, Wexford, on May 7, 2012.

Supt Patrick Carolan told the court that the charge arose as the result of an altercation in Mooneys Bar. The defendant fully co-operated with gardaí.

Colette Culleton, solicitor for the defendant, said her client, who had no previous convictions, regretted the incident.

Judge Clyne said he is not going to compound the matter with a conviction. He asked that the defendant make a contribution to a charity of her choice.

Ms Culleton told the court Clarke would make a contribution of €250 to St Vincent de Paul, but added that she would need some time.

Judge Clyne adjourned the matter to September 16 to allow for the payment to be made.
