Award for 'Funky Goddess' founder
SAMANTHA Kelly from Rosslare Harbour has won the 'Entrepreneur of the Year' award at the inaugural Ladies at E11even Business Awards.
The awards, run the networking organisation for women in London, Surrey and the south east of England, celebrate the success and growth of businesses run by women.
Samantha is the founder and manager of gift company, Funky Goddess, and the judges said they were particularly impressed with business idea to make and sell gift boxes for parents to give to their daughters when approaching womanhood.
'I am absolutely delighted to have received this award after putting in so much hard work to get my business off the ground. It is an honour to gain recognition from fellow women in business and it makes the ups and downs worthwhile,' said Samantha.
'I am also very happy that my product has been recognised as an innovative idea and this award makes all the work very rewarding. I couldn't have achieved so much without the continued support of my family and friends,' she said.
Samantha launched her ' Welcome to Womanhood' gift box in Wexford recently, with the help of Cllr Phil Roche.
The Rosslare Harbour resident, herself a mother of two girls, said her product designed to 'ease young girls over the milestone of their first period'.
She said that she spotted the gap in the market after searching local pharmacies in preparation for the inevitable milestone her own daughters would approach,
