Award-winner Joe has written new collection of poetry

The Wexford-based poet Joe Neal is launching his fifth collection of poetry called The Next Blue note in the Book Centre on Thursday, June 15 at 7pm.

Joe who was born in Wales and has lived in Edenvale, Castlebridge for the past 29 years, recently won the Anthony Cronin International Poetry Prize at Wexford Literary Festival for his unusual poem Allegheny Man.

His new poems reflect his interest in music, particularly jazz, with off-beat observations on life, love and nature.

A former Fleet Street journalist, he worked in London in the old hot-metal and typewriter days for the Guardian, Daily Telegraph, Times and Daily Express.

He trained as an actor in repertory in the UK and has performed on stage in London's West End as well as in Dublin's Gate and Abbey Theatres. Poetry is his third career. His first collection of poetry Telling It at a Slant was published in 2013, followed by Turn Now The Tide, Hear the Colour and Still Rise the Sun.All are welcome to attend the launch.
