Bail granted in criminal damage case
BAIL was fixed at the District Court in Gorey last week for a man who faces various charges arising out of an incident in Wexford earlier in the month.
Richard Kelly (25) with an address given as 24 Oaktree Heights, Castlebridge, was before the court charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and public drunkenness at Trinity Street, Wexford, on July 4 last, and with criminal damage at Seascape, Trinity Street, Wexford.
He'd been remanded in custody from the previous week. Gardai said they'd been unable to interview the complainant.
Solicitor Caitriona Walshe applied for bail, saying he would provide a new address to Gardai once he gets one.
She said he has the support of his family but they are not in a position to offer him a place to stay. She pointed out her client had been in custody for two weeks.
Inspector Pat Cody said the State didn't object to bail but asked for certain conditions to be imposed.
Judge Gerard Haughton remanded him in custody to July 25 next, and fixed bail on the condition he signs on daily at Wexford Garda Station; he has no contact with the injured party; he does not consume alcohol or illegal drugs; he keeps the peace; and notifies Gardai of his new address.
