Ballymoney beach hopes to get Blue Flag status
Morriscastle is on course to regain its Blue Flag beach status.
And the strand at Ballymoney, pictured below, may join it on the EU's roll of seaside honour.
Director of water services Eddie Taaffe responded optimistically last week to queries from Cllr Malcolm Byrne.
The FF man noted that 2km queues of traffic built up recently in good weather at Ballymoney.
Eddie Taaffe said there was no guarantee but the results of recent samples taken for laboratory analysis on all of Wexford's beaches were excellent.
He hoped that the Blue Flag will be back soon on the pole in Morriscastle. He said that environmental officials had been working with landholders to reduce pollution. And he had fingers crossed that a sewage treatment plant will be provided with the help of local businesses.
