Ballyvaldon gang all together again
THERE was a great turnout of past pupils from Ballyvaldon National School at a very enjoyable reunion held in Curracloe last Friday night.
Past pupils travelled from England and all over Ireland to the reunion, with around 220 people making their way to the Hotel Curracloe.
Liam Buttle, a member of the organising committee, said that seven people made their way across the Irish Sea to be there, while a dozen different counties were represented.
The evening started with a special Mass celebrated in Blackwater Church by Fr Laurence O'Connor, parish priest of Ballycullane and a former pupil of Ballyvaldon N.S.
The reunion got underway in Hotel Curracloe afterwards, while a book on the history of the national school (1872 to 1964) was also launched by renowned author Colm Toibin. The book is available in local shops.
