Barn dance set to put some shivers in your timbers
FOLLOWING ON from its huge success in recent years, the annual Curracloe Barn Dance will take place this Saturday, July 28.
Each year hundreds of people flock to Michael Cloney's Farm the Barn Dance which has a fancy dress theme. This year's theme is Pirates, and Curracloe is certain to be filled with people doing their best impressions of Johnny Depp's character Captain Jack Sparrow from 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
A team of volunteers are hard at work this week to get the venue ready for one of the biggest nights of the year. One of the organisers Kieran McGuinness said: 'We've had a team of volunteers here all week making preparations. They've been doing a great job and without them it wouldn't happen. The lighting is all set up now and the stage is built and ready to go. Next the sound engineer will start sorting out the equipment for the night. The goal is to turn Curracloe into ' The Pirates of the Caribbean for one night only.'
Three charities are set to benefit from the night - Wexford MS, Cottage Autism and The Nicola Furlong Fund. 'We try to make sure that the money raised always benefits local charities,' Kieran said. ' The Nicola Furlong Fund were the last ones to come on board with us and it's great to be able to help a cause here in Curracloe.'
Tickets are still available for the evening and can be purchased from Cloney's Shop in Curracloe, Kinsellas, Maggie May's and Bugler Doyle's and are priced at €20.
