Bike crash garda taken to hospital
KNOCKED OFF OF BICYCLE
A WEXFORD Garda was being treated in hospital yesterday (Tuesday) evening after he was knocked off his bicycle at lunch time.
The male garda, who is based in the Wexford town station, was not on duty at the time, but was using his lunch hour to get a cycle in.
It's understood that he was in the cycle lane at Drinagh on the Rosslare Road when he was struck by a passing car, which stopped following the crash.
The garda, who was wearing a helmet and safety gear, was taken to Wexford General Hospital's A&E for treatment for his injuries and examination.
He was still in hospital last night as X-rays were carried out to determine if he had sustained any serious damage to his back, which was very sore following the accident.
The Garda, who is from Enniscorthy, is a keen cyclist and a member of a local cycling club. It's understood he was cycling at a fast speed when the car struck him.
