Blackwater National School has been taking part in many initiatives to help them achieve their very first Active School Flag.

A large group of parents, teachers and students took part in the weekly Park Run at Johnstown Castle.

'We are working very hard this year towards achieving our first Active Flag. It was a great day and we got a big turnout with over 200 people taking part,' said School Principal Caitlin Uí Bhriain.

The park run was one of the many initiatives that the whole school community have participated in this school year.

The Active School Flag is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and active school community. The process aims to get schools active more often. Schools must also organise an Active School Week programme and commit to having it as part of their annual school calendar.
