A Bonanza Silver Circle draw saw the communities of Crossabeg and Ballymurn come out in force at the Ferrycarrig Hotel.

But while the prizes on offer held great allure for all concerned this was more than just an opportunity to return home with a little something extra in your pocket. In addition to the draw, the evening was an opportunity for these communities to come together and recognise the work of the Crossabeg/Ballymurn Community Centre Development Committee over the past year.

Launched in 2018 to help raise funds for the new Community Centre in Garrywilliam, the Silver Circle consists of 12 monthly draws and one Bonanza draw which features a total prize pot of €10,000.

And according to committee member Mary Keating this was another incredibly successful evening, 'We were delighted with such a great turnout for our Bonanza Silver Circle draw. It was a very enjoyable night and it was great to see all ages of our communities represented. The Silver Circle was launched in October 2018 and was a very successful and much needed fundraiser for our project with a total prize fund of €22,000 and we aim to launch again in the Spring of 2020.'

Paying tribute to the committee members for their hard work and to all those who have supported the community and its fundraising events throughout the year, Mary said, 'We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported the draw and other community events throughout the year. The committee will continue to work hard to bring this project to fruition and would welcome new members and ideas. Congratulations to all winners from the past year.'

Mary also confirmed the return of the Ferrycarrig "5" Five mile road race on Sunday, January 5 2020. Registration is now open at www.popupraces.ie.
