Wexford Borough District Council will be moving into the old TSB building in the Bullring by the end of this year or early in 2018, bringing a new civic presence to the centre of town.

The local authority is due to sign a lease soon on the empty four-storey premises which was home to the TSB bank for many years before its re-location to the Wright building in Cornmarket.

All staff and services of the District Council currently housed in the old County Hall in Spawell Road, will transfer to the Bullring in a move designed to provide more accessiblity and convenience for customers and members of the public, allowing them to pay rents and parking fines and make enquiries. Tourism information leaflets will also be available.

District councils in Enniscorthy, New Ross and Gorey are already located in the town centres.

The office space currently occupied by the Council in old County Hall buildings will be leased to another agency alongside existing tenants including the Art Department of Carlow IT, Wexford Local Development and It's Good to Talk.

Refurbishments will need to be carried out and new signage erected before the new civic offices are opened to the public. It is likely that staff will continue parking in the old County Hall car park.

A room in the new County Hall currently used for training will be transformed into a meeting chamber for Borough District councillors.
