Cannabis plants seized
SIX mature cannabis plants have been seized in Bridgetown.
Gardaí from Wexford searched a property in Bridgetown at around 3 p.m. last Wednesday afternoon and found the six plants.
A Garda spokesman said the cannabis plants were mature and have a combined value of around €2,500, according to the members of the drugs unit in Wexford.
The Wexford People last week revealed how more drug users are now 'growing their own' due to the recession and the closure of head shops.
Superintendent Kevin Gralton told last week's meeting of the Joint Policing Committee (JPC) that there has been an increase in the cultivation of cannabis in south County Wexford in recent times, with the seizure in Bridgetown – two days after the meeting – the latest confirmation of the 'growing' trend.
