Cash register is stolen from restaurant during break-in
Cistin Eile on South Main Street was the target of thieves who stole a cash register from the popular restaurant in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardaí received a call at around 2.30 a.m. stating that five males with their faces covered were seen carrying a cash register. Upon arriving at the scene, gardaí found the cash register discarded and that entry to the restaurant had been gained by smashing a rear window with a rock.
At this stage, it is unclear how much cash was taken during the course of the incident, however, gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Wexford Garda Station.
Similarly, there was a break-in at Wexford Racecourse overnight on Thursday night of last week. It seems that a male was seen at the scene and lights were seen inside the building. It appears the burglar was disturbed by a member of staff, however, a 44" LG TV was taken from the premises.
Gardaí say they are following a definitive line of inquiry in relation to this incident and they are hopeful that an arrest will be imminent.
