People arrived in droves from Northern Ireland, London, America, Oxfordshire, Cork and Wexford to celebrate Eileen and Seamus McCusker's 50th wedding celebrations in the Sailing Cot Pub, Maudlintown.

Eileen (née Meyler) is originally from Gulbar Road and went to work in Watford, UK, in 1964 with a group of girls who were also from Wexford town.

They worked in a boarding school for boys on Saturdays and would often enjoy nights out in the Irish dance hall at St Albans, Watford.

Eileen said: 'We always got a double decker bus to the dance and one night there were a few boys in front of us going to the same dance, that is where I met Seamus and we dated for two and a half years.'

Eileen and Seamus came back to Wexford, where they got married in 1967 at Bride Street Church with priest Fr Sinnott. They enjoyed a reception with family and friends in Whites Hotel, but had to return back to London because of Seamus's work.

Seamus, originally from Tyrone, worked at Ford's Motor Company for 38 years but both Eileen and Seamus always wanted to come back to Wexford to live and they returned in 2000.

'A great night was had in the Sailing Cot. I just want to thank all who came and for all the gifts,' said Eileen.
