Charges dropped in row with GAA club
THE DPP has decided to drop charges against a Killinick couple arising out of a dispute with St. Fintan's GAA Club.
Inspector Pat McDonald told Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla at Wexford District Court that the gardai had received a direction from the DPP in relation to Thomas Sinnott and his wife Barbara of Ballyminaun, Killinick.
Thomas Sinnott had been charged with damaging a leather football belonging to St. Fintan's on July 7, 2009 and with provoking a conflict between himself and John Wright, causing a breach of the peace on August 15, 2009.
Barbara Sinnott had been charged with assaulting John Wright, causing a breach of the peace at Ballyminaun on August 15, 2009.
The court had previously heard evidence of an ongoing dispute between the couple and the neighbouring club.
In court on Monday, Inspector McDonald said the DPP had directed that these matters were to be withdrawn.
