Celebrity Chef Catherine Fulvio was cooking up a storm last week as she took part in a special event at O'Brien's Londis in Larkin's Cross. The event on Thursday served as somewhat of a launch for the new-look interior of the shop, which has undergone a major revamp in recent months.

The evening saw Catherine cook up some of her favourite recipes and there were also tastings and recipe booklets for the large crowd that gathered.

'It was a huge success,' said owner Jimmy O'Brien. 'There was huge interest in it, particularly after the schools finished up, and we had a couple of hundred people in here over the course of the evening.'

As well as providing an occasion to show off the new deli, coffee dock and seating area, Jimmy and his wife Dolores also used the opportunity to raise some funds for the Barntown Community Children's Playground. All proceeds from Bewleys coffee sales went to the project which is close to their heart and of great importance to the local community.

The revamp of the store is the first phase of an exciting project at Larkin's cross, which will also see a Supermacs opening on the site.

'The next phase will see the Supermacs open and we're doing a lot of work outside the store at the moment too,' Mr O'Brien said. 'We're hopeful that everything will be up and running by May and it will be a big success.'
