Children learn about dog safety

It was a dog's life at Wexford town library as children picked up pointers on how to interact with the canine population.

An education officer from the Dogs Trust held a workshop on 'Safety Around Dogs' for five to 12 year olds.

The event was well-attended despite the beach-going weather.

The aim of the workshops which have also been held in Bunclody, Gorey, Enniscorthy and New Ross libraries, is to show youngsters how to enjoy spending time with their canine friends in a safe and responsible way.

Children also learn about the work of the Dogs Trust in promoting animal welfare.
