Christmas comes early!
A Christmas loving Enniscorthy couple have already got their Christmas lights and decorations not to mention two Christmas trees up even though there's six weeks to Christmas.
Thomas and Andrea Kehoe are Christmas mad. The couple who are married one year have been putting up their Christmas decorations on November 1 for the past seven years when they first start living together.
Thomas said 'we put them up as soon as the Halloween decorations come down every year. We are both mad about Christmas and love to have the place decorated. The first year we did it it was more for the kids on the street although it drove the parents crazy because as soon as our were up all the kids wanted to put theirs up as well!
'After the first year it just became tradition and it's great for the kids in the area. It's good auld craic. We put up the trees on Saturday when our nieces and nephews were over and they were delighted.'
The Christmas crazy couple have not one but two Christmas trees in their home at 17 Lower Shannon in Enniscorthy. 'We have a real one in the extension', said Thomas 'and an artificial one in the sitting room. The children helped to decorate it when they were over on Saturday and you would want to have seen their faces when they saw our house was decorated. It was priceless.'
Of course the Kehoe's festive fun isn't for everyone and Thomas joked that his brother won't come near the house now that the decorations are up!
Every year the Kehoe's add to their haul of festive lights and goodies and Thomas said that a recently built extension to their home is already filling up with all sorts of twinkling lights and Christmas characters.
It's no surprise the Kehoe's love the holiday season as they both celebrate their respective birthdays, days after the Baby Jesus himself. Thomas will turn 32 on December 28 while wife Andrea turns 30 on December 29.
Thomas admits that their early erection of the lights and decorations does create a bit of a stir for the first few days but said that after that people doesn't even comment. 'I put them up when people were going to Mass and I had a few people asking me was I crazy or what but we love it. It's all just a bit of craic.'
However a love of the Ho Ho Ho doesn't come cheap and Thomas said that the couple's ESB bill for the festive period is usually double the usual amount. But he said that the couple know this higher than normal bill is coming and are prepared for the shock!
