While the Cheltenham Festival is renowned for its highs and lows, an emotional interview with Wexford jockey Jamie Codd touched the hearts of quite a few people around the world following his stunning victory in the Champion Bumper on board Envoi Allen on Wednesday.

With emotions clearly running high, the Mayglass jockey paid tribute to his brother William, who passed away tragically last year at the age of 43.

'It's an emotional day,' a clearly overwhelmed Codd said to Racing TV just moments after his win. 'It's brilliant to have mam and dad here. We've had a tough year. I lost my brother last year and it's been very tough. He's up there now looking down on us today I hope. I hope he's proud. William was a big supporter of mine. He was here two years ago. God I wish he was here. I wish he was here.'

The hard-earned win was Codd's 9th at Cheltenham it was a source of immense pride not just to parents Billy and Mary Frances, but to everyone watching at home in Wexford.
