Congrats for pipers - crocodile tears for Cats

WHEN Wexford County Council cathaoirleach Kathleen Codd Nolan called for expressions of congratulation last week, Cllr. Michael Sheehan was quick to put the focus on the New Ross town and district pipe band as a group that everyone could be proud of. With an All- Ireland title to their credit, the band clearly justified Cllr. Sheehan's enthusiasm.

Cllr. Paddy Kavanagh had no congratulations to offer but he felt that some commiserations might be in order to Cllr. Pat Cody. The Labour representative - and Kilkenny native - was not present in the chamber for the start of business and so he missed his Fine Gael colleague's crocodile tears for the defeat inflicted on the hurling team in black and amber stripes led by his namesake Brian Cody at the hands of Galway.
