Three new public art projects costing €60,000 are on the way in County Wexford under the Per Cent for Art Scheme connected to the Enniscorthy by-pass road.

Wexford County Council is inviting submissions from artists for three commissions valued at €20,000 each arising from the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy Public Private Partnership contract. The commissions can be in any art form and there is a focus on socially engaged and or co-authored artistic productions.

Proposals can be made by a single artist or an arts collective. Commissions will be awarded under a two-stage open competition and will take place between September 2018 and September 2019. For more information on how to apply, go to www.wexfordcoco.ie/arts-and-culture.

The Per Cent for Art Scheme is a government initiative, introduced in 1978, whereby 1% of the cost of any large public infrastructural or building development, can be allocated to commission a work of art. More than 40 art commissions including sculptures, films and street theatre have been awarded in County Wexford. €60,000 is being made available for art works arising from the Enniscorthy road project, representing 1% of €6 million.
