Courtown electoral district mooted by Byrne
Cllr Malcolm Byrne said such is the population growth in North Wexford the Courtown Riverchapel area could warrant becoming its own electoral district.
Cllr Davy Hynes brought a motion calling on his fellow councillors to totally reject a plan being proposed by Minister Simon Coveney to reduce the size of ten and eight seater council districts.
He said: 'Minister Coveney favours smaller electoral districts with a minimum of four seats and a maximum of seven,' calling for the old town council local government system to be reinstated.
Cllr Malcolm Byrne said the decision depends on the geography of an electoral district.
The motion was carried.
