Courtown sergeant

COURTOWN must retain a sergeant following the retirement of the current incumbent, Monday's meeting of the county's Joint Policing Committee (JPC) heard.

Cllr Bobby Ireton said that the current sergeant in Courtown, Mick O'Connor, is retiring shortly and he paid tribute to him for his service over the years.

However, he made an 'appeal' to Chief Superintendent John Roche to ensure that he is replaced with a sergeant when he retires. 'Courtown needs a sergeant and three Gardaí,' said Cllr Ireton.
