Drink driver put off road for six years

Two drink drive convictions added up to six years off the road for Kevin Murphy (42) with an address at 82 Bishopswater in Wexford.

Offences dealt with at the District Court sitting in Ardcavan occurred at Clonard on October 25, 2015 and at Trinity Street on May 20, 2016.

Judge Gerard Haughton noted that the alcohol concentrations recorded were 'pretty high'.

And solicitor Tim Cummings accepted that his client's alcohol consumption was out of control for a period of six to eight months.

However, Mr Cummings was able to report that Murphy had taken the initiative and attended a 28-day rehab course at Aiséirí.

The defendant further intends to take up a place on a five month secondary care course, the solicitor added.

Murphy attended court with his partner, with whom he has a six year old child

He was fined €500 for the first offence and a suspended five month prison sentenced was recorded for the second, with the six year disqualification.

He told the court clerk he was now living in the Ballymurn area.
