Dad's nose broken at son's 18th party
A WEXFORD man is recovering from serious facial injuries at St. James' Hospital in Dublin after he was set upon by a group of gate-crashers at his son's 18th birthday party.
Gardai say they are following a definite line of inquiry following the incident, which took place at the Scaville Lodge, Duncormick, last weekend.
According to local reports, a group of people who had not been invited to the party, descended on the Scaville Lodge trying to gain entry.
When they approached the door there was a confrontation with the teenager celebrating his 18th birthday.
As the young man's father tried to pull his son away from the group and back into the Scaville Lodge, he was jumped upon and assaulted.
During the attack, the father received serious facial injuries, including a fractured cheekbone and broken nose.
The man, who was in his 40s, was treated in Wexford General Hospital and later received treatment in St. James Hospital in Dublin.
Gardaí say they still have to speak to witnesses and have yet to speak to the victim of the attack who is still recovering from his injuries.
And they said they said they were not aware of reports of a related incident near Larkin's Cross on Friday night.
