Daffodil Day take goes up
DESPITE the recession, generous givers managed to increase the amount they contributed in Wexford town to this years Daffodil Day.
Organisers of the event locally raised a total of €32,950 – nearly €5,000 more than last year.
In 2010 the daffodil sellers only managed to collect €28,188.
'We didn't think that we'd do as well as last year. We were expecting a lower figure, but people were still very generous,' said Dor O'Connor, one of the organising committee.
This year there was also a big effort put in by schools who raised cash, as well as a clay pigeon shoot. All of the money raised will go to the Irish Cancer Society.
