Dancers at showcase
COUNTY Wexford Youth Dance Company (CWYDC) has been chosen to perform by the National Youth Council of Ireland at their annual Youth Arts Showcase tonight, Wednesday, April 20, in the National Library, Dublin.
They will perform along with only two other chosen groups – Activate Youth Theatre, Cork, and Tallaght Young Filmmakers.
The event is intended to showcase examples of the exceptional quality of youth arts activity in Ireland to politicians from the Dáil and other decision makers, and to celebrate the contribution of youth arts to the lives of young people and Irish society.
The performers will have chance to talk with the politicians and meet the new Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs, Jimmy Deenihan, after the performance.
CWYDC will present ' Dilemmas', a dance piece based on conversations with young people (aged 12 to 16 years old). It is a physical expression of their feelings and emotions, and the anxiety of growing up. The current CWYDC 12to 16-year-olds are Paulina Palka, Ala Blackon, Megan Doolan, Laura Kinsella, Kimberley Allen and Jamie Allen.
CWYDC is Myriad Dance's youth dance company, resident at Wexford Opera House.
