PAUL DELANEY (24) from Blackhall, Killurin admitted having a dangerously defective vehicle on the road when he appeared at the District Court on Monday. But solicitor Caitriona Walsh told Judge Gerard Haughton that the car in question had passed its NCT the day before it was pulled up at The Faythe by Garda Mick Dee.
Proceedings were taken after the Garda noted that wheel nuts were missing, the wiper blades were worn and that sidelights were not working on the car. He was also concerned that a 1.8 litre engine had been fitted to a car originally powered by a 1.3 litre engine.
Delaney was described by Ms. Walsh as a qualified plumber, unable to find work in his chosen field, and now driving a delivery van. He has two children. He was fined €300.
