Council Report

Maria Pepper at the monthly Wexford Municipal Borough meeting

Councillors have reiterated their called for action on derelict houses in Bride Street which have been lying empty for many years.

'When will this happen, is there any timeline', asked Cllr. David Hynes who has raised the issue on countless occasions.

The Mayor, Cllr. George Lawlor said: 'We need delivery on this and we need it soon. It has been on the agenda for a long time'.

Senior staff officer Helen Meehan replied that the houses are scheduled for demolition in the fourth quarter of this year.

Director of Services Tony Larkin said it would be 'highly desirable' to see it done but the housing department is very busy with a lot of housing schemes at the moment and that's where the focus is.
