Devoted father Bernie Walsh will be sadly missed by all
GREAT sadness was felt in Kennedy Park on March 25 last following the death of Bernard (Bernie) Walsh at the age of 71.
Bernie passed away following a brief illness. Originally from Columba Villas, he was one of 14 children.
Bernie worked all his life with W.B. Nunn & Co, alternating between their stores in The Pillar, King Street, and Gibson's Lane.
Following his retirement in 1990 he worked at furniture upholstery with his wife, Peggie, whom he met when she was 16 years old.
They were married for almost 46 years. He enjoyed playing darts in Browne's of Bishopswater and won vouchers almost weekly.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, James and Elizabeth Walsh, and his sister, Claire, who died at the age of 12.
Bernie, a loving father and devoted husband, is greatly missed by his wife Peggie and their four children, Mary, Pamela, Brian, and Niall, his grandchildren Michael, Shane, Roisin, Emma, and Sarah, his many brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces and his many friends.
His remains were interred in St Ibar's Cemetery, Crosstown, on Tuesday, March 29, following 11 a.m. Mass in the Church of the Assumption, Bride Street.
