Efforts by Wexford Local Authorities to secure the return of Skyfest to Wexford came to a crashing halt last week when they were informed the celebrations had been cancelled.

The members had been investigating the possibility of bringing Skyfest to the town to co-incide with the 100th anniversary of the St. Patrick's Day parade in 2017. However last week district manager Angela Laffan said that Skyfest was cancelled in 2012 and 'it was not certain when or if it will be held in the future'.

Cllr Fergie Kehoe said he was very disappointed by the news adding that any town or city that had ever had the benefit of hosting Skyfest had benefited greatly from it. He said he felt the 100th anniversary celebrations would have been the ideal opportunity to bring it back to Wexford.
