Dominic's pic gets 'stamp' of approval!
FEATURES ON NEW 55c STAMP
FORMER Wexford Mayor Dominic Kiernan has put his stamp on the Irish boxing world - quite literally.
A picture snapped by the keen amateur photographer appears on a new stamp to mark the centenary of the Irish Amateur Boxing Association.
The 55c stamp carries a photograph that Dominic snapped during a team selection ' box off'.
Pictured are Irish amateur boxers David Joyce of St. Michael's Boxing Club, Athy and Stephen O'Reilly of Twin Towns Boxing Club, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal.
Dominic has been a long-time supporter of Irish boxing and he is currently the Chairman of the Centenary Committee of the Irish Amateur Boxing Association.
A Dubliner by birth, when Dominic first came to Wexford he trained youths in St. Michael's Boxing Club and is currently the Chairman of the CBS boxing club and secretary of the Leinster Provincial Council of Boxing. Dominic was thrilled that his image will feature on the 55c stamp and will be available in Post Offices across the country. He is delighted ttoo hat his sport is being honoured.
'We wanted to mark the centenary in some way, and I'm delighted with the stamp,' he said.
